can you power a 12v circuit from a car battery?

I hope this isn't as dumb a question as it seems, but I'd rather be careful..

I've got a sparkfun sta540 amp kit (12v) , and a MP3 trigger (4.5 - 12v) and I'd like to power them from a 12v motorcycle battery.

Fully charged, I have a feeling that the battery sits at 12.9v, so is that still OK, or should I reduce it a little to be safe??
(the battery is disconnected for charging, so no 14v issues there..)
