Hello,
I bought a speaker (PEITEL KL1/B Loudspeaker) for a mobile radio setup. I was expecting to plug it right away but the wiring is not done. So I got a mono jack but I am unsure about the wiring. I also got a potentiometer to maybe control the volume.

Could you please give me directions on the steps to follow ?

Here is what I tried but fail to get an output:
  • PSupply (red): connected to battery 12V positive
  • GND (black): connected to battery 12V negative
  • Ignition (blue) : ? I don't get what this does - guessing it's an on switch - did not connect
  • LS in+ (green): connected to jack +
  • LS in- (yellow): connected to jack -

Thanks for your help.

This is the correct link to the product page: KL1 amplified. An installation sheet should have been included with purchase.
My understanding of the sparse info on the website is that you need to connect the "ignition" contact to ground (0 V, battery "-") for the amplifier within the speaker to turn on. This is to prevent the amplifier from draining a car's battery if the ignition is off.

I would strongly suggest that that isn't correct ;)
Ignition lead would go to the switched side of the ignition switch so that 12V/24V is applied to the wire WHEN the ignition is turned on
taking the unit out of a standby mode. If it went to GND, it will never work

It could also go, to the switched side of the accessory position of the ignition switch
so that when the key turns to the ACC position, 12V/24V power will be supplied to the unit switching it out of standby

this is common with most vehicle audio systems

I agree, the ignition ACC is used so stereo or accessories can be used with ignition switch on first click but no ignition lights.
Very common.

I stand corrected. The original info states:
Stromaufnahme Max. 450 mA, ≤ 1 mA (Zündungskontakt = 0 V)
Which obviously means that Ignition ("Zündungskontakt") = 0 V means Amplifier off. Beg to excuse that misinterpretation.

So that was it, wiring the blue cable ('ignition') to 12V does indeed power the unit ; if not there is no output.

Thanks so much for your help.
