Idiot? I think she's very clever. Cute, too. Her job is to be an
entertainer, to get people to notice her, and to sell books.

"Treason" is on my list of books to read. Sounds contrarian and
interesting. One of her claims is that during the now-discredited and
notorious Communist persecutions of the 1950's, all of the many people
who were prosecuted for being Soviet spies were, in fact, Soviet
spies.

Is everybody who disagrees with you an "idiot"? If so, that means you
are right about everything. That must be nice.

Coutergeist is good for CONservatives. The more she says the better it is
for them. She should be invited to more stuff to blurt her witticisms as she
is defintiely helping the cause. At least Guiliani, McCain and Romney think
so. It's great fun watching them run for cover!

In the 1996 campaign she was asked whom she supported and she said "either
Forbes or Buchanan". In that field of 7 those two were at opposite ends, so
she'll vote for anybody who is not a politico? I never considered her
intelligent since then. Populism for its own sake is foolish.

The Venona documents proved it. I remember reading the NY Times when the
documents were released, which actually said that the left would have to
re-think anti-communism. I also remember thinking that I knew they would do
no such thing and continue as if the documents didn't exist, which they
have.

BTW my pet peeve with amerenglish is the misuse of the word "insure"
when what they really mean is "ensure".

but I was surprised to discover "fall" (meaning autumn) is actually
english english, it just fell (couldnt resist ;) out of favour a few
centuries ago....

Persecution and prosecution being two different things. Many of those
who were persecuted were never prosecuted. A few spies were exposed but
the 'commie' label was used for everything from busting unions to
discrediting competitors.
