I wish I had been following this article from the beginning as it
seems to (correct me if I'm wrong) strayed from RAHE. The voice
sampling at 44.1KHz would be irrelevant over a telephone line as
nearly all trunk and junction connections via a modern Digital Public
Switched Telephone Network are acheived by 64Kb/s digital
timeslots. Each speech sample is at an 8KHz rate as the bandwidth
requirement is only 3.1KHz (300Hz to 3.4KHz) per channel. These are
ITU-T recommendations using A-Law encoding algorithm. Each sample
is represented as an eight bit binary word. The US standard is
similar to that of the ITU-T with the exception of the encoding
algorithm which is mu-Law (sorry can't put in the greek letter for
"mu"). Given that the sampling rate for a telephony circuit is only
8KHz the arguement of 44.1 or 58KHz seems superflous ? ?

** The post is a bit over 5 years old.
When did you get the boot Alan ???
But your claim as of a few days ago was that I do work for that company,** But you used to work for them and quite recently.
So you consider that having worked for Telstra is a slur on a
person's character and must not be mentioned in public ??
Is that the basis of your proposed suit ??
Gee Phil, working out the Google search engine again are we? Posted last
century. Might as well be a lifetime ago.
complimentary. On the subject of Google searches - perhaps typing in "Phil Allison" and
then clicking on the groups tab may just reveal how popular you really are
Phil. Hmmmm some 88,000 + results I believe. Most not very
Is my employment history relevant?
for > > Telstra Corporation Limited is likely to see legal action from me if not
But your claim as of a few days ago was that I do work for that company,
which is incorrect.
Did I say that?
Mark said:Hi group,
I'm NOT wishing enter the 'slinging match' side of this topic, though I just
picked up the DV-B300 for similar reasons as the OP.
I can return it if i'm not happy anyway.
Well I am happy, it brought new life to my ageing HMV tx100. I now have
great stereo sound, clean picture, extra channels, pgm info, teletext etc
and a new remote (the original was cactus)
However I have one problem and one question.
The problem is in 4:3 fullscreen the picture is a little compressed and off
side across the screen.
The question is, since I had to go STB Scart to Video/Audio in on a VCR
then RF to TV, am I likely to be losing much in quality?
Hi mate,
The picture isnt what i'd call cropped though, it is clearly distorted and
the inconsistant band on the sides shits me. Its off centre too. It'll be
going back if I dont solve it

** How asinine.
You worked for Telstra until a few years ago at most.
You spent most of your life there - right ??
complimentary.
** Who is trying to be popular ?
Only fools are popular - since there are so many like minded
about.
** Your arsehole attitude is relevant - being a puffed up Telstra
instructor explains that.
me
if not
** Far as I know you still do - as you will not say who you work for
now.
Alan Rutlidge said:last century. Might as well be a lifetime ago.
So this is an admission you were wrong about my current employer?
My attitude (which obviously and successfully agravates you) is irrelevant
to whom I may or may not be employed by.
Who I may or may not be working for is my business and the business of my
employer.
claiming
I work for Telstra Corporation Limited is likely to see legal action
No just blatent lies.
Yes. Best is straight into a plasma screen, followed by AV into either a
TV or LCD screen. In fact, modulated RF into an old TV is the worst of
the lot.
However, since that set will be usable for another eight years,
Phil,
You must have missed a part of my first post, I already upgraded the s/w to
1.02, but it didnt solve the size problem.
Phil Allison said:** No - not until you reveal your present one.
** You would be the same arsehole no matter where you worked - that is
true.
But arseholes congregate - so your employment is of interest.
** You were proud to show it off when it was Telsta - what is the
problem now ??
Working as a shelf packer in Flemmings now - are you ???
** Shame you cannot me sue over that.
This means you haven't been able to confirm or deny that I am currently
employed by Telstra , right?
You see Phil, you have a particular mind set which makes assumptions about
all sorts of things to which you have no information to back up your claims.
Let us just assume (for the purpose of the arguement) that I don't work for
Telstra which I have told you repeatedly in the past few days and of course
on previous occassions that I don't.
I could very well be in any of the following situations -
1) Working for another company or companies
2) Self employed
3) Self funded retirement
4) Mandatory retirement
5) Superannuated out on the grounds of invalidity (injury, ill health etc)
6) Carer pension
7) On holiday / furlough
8) Volunteering my services abroad.
or any miriad of possibilities....
Care to take a punt?
Only to you Phil.
You must be a bit slow on the uptake Phil. You haven't telephoned Telstra
to confirm that I don't work for then yet?
"Telsta" - which company is this?
Errh, who are Flemmings when they are at home? Never heard of them.
Perhaps we don't have a Flemmings in my home town / state? Enlighten me
Phil. Maybe directions to my nearest Flemmings might help.
It's only worth sueing someone if there is anything to get from the
defendant in the settlement. In your case, not much I suspect.
Gentleman please!
How about you start your own thread so you can discuss your differences and
leave this thread to those of us interested in "Re: set top boxes for
digital TV"?
Thank you,
Peter
** You seem to care a lot more than I do.
Your past is clear enough and says it all.
** An honest person would simply say - but you will not.
So find someone else who is interested and get them to post here.interest.
** That is your wrong opinion.
Just make a complaint as I suggested. After all you obviously dislike me so** No such info is available over the phone.
** How autistic.
** Have a guess.
Alan Rutlidge said:Now if I didn't have one to reveal to you, you would have nothing to rant on
about wouldn't you?
Who me? Nah, I think you got that one wrong Phil.
What might that be Phil?
There are a lot of honest people in the world Phil. But I doubt many of
them are answerable to you. Even if I was to be arrested I would not have
to reveal my employment status or the name of my employer to the police, so
why should I tell you?
So find someone else who is interested and get them to post here.
Telstra > > to confirm that I don't work for then yet?
Just make a complaint as I suggested.
It's a fair enough question.
Okay, just to appease you I did a whitepages search in my home state under
business / government for "Flemmings" - no listings. Message returned
after search is as follows :-
Unfortunately there are no listings matching your search criteria. Try
broadening your search by specifying fewer details, or shortening your
entries (eg. "Thomp" instead of "Thompson").
Alternatively, access HELP for additional information.
Satisfied?

** If wishes where horses then beggers would ride.
** Telstra emloyed the unemployable elsewhere - the most inept of the
inept - and then CHOSE the most autistic of whoever applied so they would
fit in with the existing staff.
That explains you.
** So you know the rules when you get arrested then ??
Been arrested a few times then have you - Alan ??
Never say where you work - the pigs might arrive there and spill
the beans.
How embarassment.
** I may post a request for just that.
** Complain that Alan Rutlidge is an arsehole to Telstra ?
They would fall about laughing.
** How massively autistic.
Enlighten
** That was not a guess.
Shelf packing is not so strange an occupation for fuckwits.
Andy said:<snip all the shite and get down to business>
Who do you work for Phil?.
time about where/who they worked for..
The questions are simple...please provide a simple answer.
self-employed, married, with four children - two of which have
cerebral palsy and one of those is autistic as well...I really resent
your constant remarks about autism).
