Trying to understand an ac principle.

If you take a bar magnet and move a conductor into its field you get current flow in one or the other direction depending on the direction of motion. I understand this. My question: Does it mater what type of material the conductor is to induce current.

I always visualize this as copper which is diamagnetic. But what about paramagnetic and ferromagnetic?

In this case, the wire simply needs to be conductive.
