Hello ladies and gentlemen of Eletrronics point.
This is my first time posting and I am hoping to get some guidance on this matter as I seem unable to understand/find any information myself.

What is a line receiver?, specifically in the context of an opto coupler isolator acting as one.

Thank you in advanced for any help that you can provide.

Yours faithfully

Hello
Line receivers will generally be used in differential signalling systems like RS485 for example. These use differential pairs to send data from one point to another. This is used to help prevent common mode noise from degrading systems performance. The opto isolator does two things, it provide electrical isolation from one part of the circuit to the other and some of the devices have active clamps inside to prevent any overshoot in long cables from interfering with the original signal.
Regards
Brenda :)

I think I now have an understanding of the components functionality.
Thank you for the help.
