At our company we cant have a digiplex or dgiplex ne from paradox to
communicate properly in SI on the MLR2000 from Sure-Guard(dsc)

it will take maybe 10 attemp to accept the kiss off as valid

anyone got that?

we fixed it by switching to dtmf contact id and all is ok...

Don't use SIA with a Sureguard receiver. Although they'll never admit
it (only off the record and never from a DSC guy only Tri-Ed) there is
a problem with some panels, even their own. I found this out in 1996
with a P832 panel that wouldn't accept a handshake signal 90% of the
time.

The Digiplex panels work fine using Contact ID, which you've already
done.

Nope, we have 10 to 20 going to an MLR2000 sending SIA with no problems

WHAT??? Sorry but we have well over 40% of our panels (out of 500,000
accounts) sending SIA to SurGard MLR-2000's as well as the older MLR-2's and
have never had a problem, all brands but mostly DSC

The information you mention is flat out wrong

I haven't yet met anyone at Tri-Ed qualified to make that observation.

Have you made sure the first tone is SIA? I know that the receiver sends
the first tone based on the phone number. If the it has recorded a 2300 Hz
need on that number, SIA may not work. I know that some DSC 5010s won't
send SIA on a 2300 Hz tone when there is a questionable phone line, maybe
it's the same with this panel.

Thanks for th input but thats not the prob...i even asked my communication
tech in the office to tell the mlr 2000 to act like its only receiving SIA
and it didnt change anything....

sometimes the com is all ok then out of no where a costumer was calling
about tha panel showing communucation trouble..

made a few test with at the main office working on some local lines that had
direct access to the receiver and it was creating problem...
we had on the same line 1 digiplex 1 P 832 (dsc) on PC4020 (dsc) and they
were all sending signal every 5 minute cause we had 3 timer set on each
panel and was transmiting to the same receiver...never had trouble on the
dsc got some trouble(not all the times) with the digiplex till we changed to
contact id on the digiplex and it never failed..

i was mostly curious if someone else got this trouble

Thanks for the input

It might also be the cheap phone wire they're using in Quebec these days...
Or maybe your French version alarm panel can't talk to an English speaking
central station receiver (or the other way around)... You just never
know... :)

must be the english receiver with the french panel thing....the pane l must
have a too strong accent in sia but must be not too bad in contact id

It's probably communicating the account code in "EX" (dropping the "H")...

That's because Contact ID, being from Ademco, has a New York accent.
Everyone recognizes a NY accent though no one can really tell what they're
talking about.

That's funny since Napco tech. support is out of NY, and you seem to
communicate fine. Your accent is just as bad, Frank can verify this.

Perhaps you should talk to Art Curly at Tri-Ed in Vancouver. Anyone
who's ever dealt with him knows his credentials. He knows more about
DSC products than everyone of the so-called professionals here.

He's spends a good deal of time at the factory... He's directly involved in
providing support to alarm technicians. The interesting thing is that the
answers for most of their questions are *in the manual* if they'd only take
the time to read the thing. He should be commended for his patience because
I've heard he's had days where he's answered the same question about five
times in a row (different calls).

Perhaps the problem is not indicative of the behaviour of every panel,
but DSC does know a problem exists. Their solution of course is use
Contact ID.

I have a number of DSC panels communicating SIA. I've never had a problem
and it's the first I've heard of it.

Why would I want to do that?

That's nice. Is he moving to Southern California soon? If not, then what
is your fucking point?

I merely pointed out that there was someone at Tri-Ed capable of doing
more than spewing out the tech number.

My fucking point is you're a dickhead. Point proven.
