I don't have an application in mind. I mostly just want to use the
thing. Well ... ok, something in RC and or robotics? I am open to all
suggestions however. the PIC is a 16C74B.

Thank You,

Mica

Hi andro000

Check out this link for a project I did with the PIC12F675 that might
interest you, I've also got a list of PIC books on there that could
help get you up and PICing.

OK, you've got the context part - now, move your cursor to the bottom of
the text box - that's called "bottom-posting", and is the accepted
convention throughout most of the USENET virtual world. ;-)

But, in answer to your question, yes, you can use a strobe as a tach, if
it's calibrated. :)

Cheers!

Yes, as a matter of fact it is. :)

Thanks!

I have a *lot* of old PC boards and other components I'd like to find a good
home for. Do you have a loading dock and pallet truck at your place? You
*do* accept COD, don't you?

No dock, but we do have a forklift, and lots of room. :)

But, what's this COD schtuff? I didn't say anything about wanting to _pay_
for any of this stuff! =:-O

Thanks,
Rich

As a matter of fact, there is one in the motherboard of an old Leading Edge
computer that I was just about ready to "recycle", so I'll pop it out and
send it to you first class mail. I have already pulled the Hercules graphics
/ printer card for Robert Baer. You can have the whole computer or any parts
for which you are willing to pay shipping costs.

For other surplus parts, see my website. The list is old but I still have
most of the stuff. Forget about the prices I listed. I just want to find
good homes for the things rather than dump them.

Ok ... Time to admit that I am totally in the dark about PIC, or any
microcontroller forthat matter. I think a better idea for me is to
build a prototyping board. Something I plug the PIC into and learn how
the thing works.

Any one have shematics for a prototyping board that will accomidate a
PIC16C74?

A solderless breadboard is perfectly acceptable for that sort of
thing.
