Hey Group,

At present I am in full time Employment, i have a NVQ level 1 and 2 in PCB
assembly, I also have a NVQ level 2 and 3 in Servicing electronic systems.

I would like to learn PIC and/or PLC, what is the best way to go around
doing this, obvisly im not going to give up my full time job but everyone
keeps telling me theres no other way.

I would also like to get a qulification to allow me to swap breakers and
allow me to add sockets to ring mains, within a business enviroment. Is
there any qualification i could get part time to allow the above? or do i
need to be a quilified electrician to do this?

Any links on the net to allow me to learn Pic and/or PLC from the comfort of
my home?

Many Thanks

Check out Practical/Everyday electronics. They have
a lot of PIC projects and also some teaching CD's.

In the UK

Regarding PLC's there are some night school courses run by
BTEC/EDEXEL. PIC courses are available but seem to be few and far
between, check your local college.

With regard to installations the minimum requirement posted by the
NICEIC is the City & Guilds 2380/2381 (Wiring reg 16th ed) and the
2391 (Inspection and testing) both available at your local college or
through the IEE

www.niceic.org.uk

www.iee.org

www.plcs.net

When part P of the building regulations come into force I believe that
the above minimums qualifications will be the basis for the self
registration process and only those registered will be able to perform
and certify installations.

Hope this helps
