This thread (like several others) already made
reference to Bob's dissatisfaction with DS.

Which is perfectly legitimate considering the "company" you're in.

Others brought it up. He and they, including
Mr. Olson, are well aware that I had previously
dropped DS due to what Bob said about the
company.

I couldn't give a rat's derrière about what you sell or don't sell.
Just don't sell it HERE.

It is on topic to discuss selling
and/or using the products and it is relevant
to offer to post results of trying them out.

You have been told innumerable times that this isn't a DIY forum. The
one and only reason you posted this is to advertise your site once
again. Read the FAQ, Robert. No one else who sells online and
contributes here posts your kind of self serving nonsense. You "say"
you "don't want to fight anymore". You turn around and flame an
individual, then, in the same thread, you say you "won't fight". Well,
hello!! Those kind of "flame and run" tactics won't work.

Last time I donated to a charity, several
people in this newsgroup jumped on me
for it.

Oh, cry me a river. I'm certain many here donate to charities all year
long. The problem with you is that your ego's so big, I'm going to have
to buy a bigger monitor so I can read your posts (if you keep this up).

Did of them give anything or were
they too busy posting flames to write a
check?

We were too busy writing cheques to post flames.

Also, it is common practice in this
newsgroup for posters to address
other specific participants. Until all who
complain about that stop doing the same
I think I'll just continue.

Yes, there are many occasions where an individual has addressed his
comments to a specific participant. They *don't* include links to a
"buy me" page, and very often reference an email address or
manufacturer's web page. This is a security industry discussion group.
It was founded as such and it's also one of the reasons I like coming
here. I don't come here to see Robert Bass shilling for umpteen
different DIY stores he happens to own.

Do you think you got part of a bad run or was this a fault everyone
had. We didn't start using the 835i until Bosch bought DS so I don't
remember hearing about this problem.

They knew about the problem but kept it quiet. Ask RHC.

I think I tried that too, but I missed twice. If I didn't you

my place riding her broom stick.

I still miss my ex-wife.

Hehhehheh. That was a little before my time.

Since they never even called me, I'm not
exactly shaking in my riding boots. :^)

Did you ever notice how none of these guys
ever complains about Jim Rojas' collection
of hundreds of thousands of pirated manuals
which he sells online? <

Spend a little time doing a Google on my posts regarding software and
THEN tell me how accurate your statement is when you say "none of
these guys ever complain"
Call that old geezer Campbell and ask him about my thoughts on
unlocking panels and doling out manuals.
IMO what you and Rojas do with the software is wrong but like I've
stated so many times in the past, what makes you the only target, and
what makes Jim immune from any attacks is your penchant for engaging
in flame fests. How that makes you guilty of pirating while Jim gets
acknowledged for providing a service is anyone's guess.
FTR, I think Jim's site
is a great asset to the trade, as well as to
the thousands of end users who buy "dealer"
manuals from him. <

FTR I don't think Jim's site is an asset to anyone other than Jim just
as your site is an asset to you.
All of the bitching and twitching in the world will amount to diddly
dick as far as getting any of you guys to change.
The choice between feeding your family or appeasing an internet
personality isn't a tough call.
Do what you need to do to feed your family but don't try to prevent
anyone else from feeding theirs.

So Rojas is now a thief? <

Yes that makes him and anyone else who doles out manuals, software,
programmers, lockout codes, etc a thief Or a pirate. Whatever term you
prefer.
Taking what is not yours, without permission of the owner, and selling
it as if it's yours is one of the activities of a thief/pirate/
bootlegger.
You think Jim should get a free pass because he's a swell fella?
The issue here is download software not manuals- Hide quoted text - <

Unlocking proprietary boards and selling/renting programmers for those
proprietary panels is another service offered.
It's wrong and anyone with an iota of ethics knows it's wrong.
Good job poking the beehive trying to scare up some drama. This place
has been boring.

How do you know he doesn't have permission? Have you asked?

The boards are not proprietary and he's not renting/selling programmers and
it is not wrong- Hide quoted text -

- Show quoted text -

Are you honestly saying Jim never rented or sold Brinks programmers?
He never advertised that on his website? Next you'll be telling me how
you made 2 keypads say " attention burglar, go ahead make my day"
Put the bong down and embrace reality. ADT boards are proprietary as
are Brinks panels and programmers. Unlocking those boards and renting/
selling those programmers is wrong any way you slice it just like
giving away passwords and software is wrong. It is not their property
so they shouldn't tamper with it.
As one of the largest contributors to Jim's site your opinion on this
isn't exactly unbiased, and Jim or RHC shouldn't get a free pass
because they are nice guys.
Wrong is wrong be it Jim, RHC, or RLB.
You're talking out of both sides of your mouth here (which I suspect
is in hopes of starting a new ballyhoo to remedy the snoozefest this
group suffers from).

Did you drop a dime on Jim with Brinks? <

Yeah you caught me. What gave me away? I'm in the process of suing
Brinks for tortuous interference but I figured I'd throw Jim under the
bus as a token of peace.
Things might be dull here on this NG, but are probably a bit more
interesting at the Rojas residence. <

Jim needs to make an appointment to appear on Clean House
The irony to me is that so many here give the devil to RLB, but the courts
(via Brinks) have focused in on non other than Jim Rojas, a gentleman held
in high regard by most folks posting here (including me).<

Jim is a cool dude BUT that doesn't make him any less guilty of doing
the same type of shit RLB does. He gets a free pass because he's a
nice guy while RLB gets treated like a pinata at an epileptic octopus
picnic because of his past shenanigans.
If 2 guys rob a bank they are both guilty. The nicer of the two
doesn't receive a smaller sentence because he's Likeable Larry.
I've noticed the rhetoric between folks is escalating again so the
fighting shouldn't be far off.
Sadly it appears as if the same worn out insults will be hurled back
and forth again.
In no particular order I am listing the worn out insult hit parade:

Frank's a counter clerk who lied about flying

Robert is a burger baron who can't make up his pink mind how many
years he's been in business of making keypads say attention burglar go
ahead make my day

Jack is a fat gaylord

Mark, is the step mson of RLB and will never understand self-
employment

Jeffy is a paranoid fruitcup who makes drunk dial phone calls in the
wee hours of the morning

I'm a racist con man who wears tank tops and served time in New Mexico

Jim (not Rojas....ya know the cranky old bastard? ) beats kids with
hammers

Petem likes his Jews medium rare.

and RHC is an old canuck loonie who thinks contracts are bad
Truth is stranger than fiction.<

Sure is
It was many, many years ago when I disappointedly realized
that only very rarely does anything fair, just, or reasonable come out of a
court of law, and even then it is purely by accident.<

To quote the immortal Fat Mancho from the movie Sleepers
"The street is the only thing that matters. Court is for uptown people
with suits, money, lawyers with three names. If you got cash you can
buy court justice. But on the street, justice has no price. She's
blind where the judge sits but she's not blind out here. Out here the
bitch got eyes."

As I said before whatever my opinion may be of what they do amounts to
nothing in the great big scheme of things.
Their job is to feed their mother's son. The only time they need to
concern themselves with my opinion is when I sign their paycheck.
That being said I am still entitled to my opinion and my opinion is
that they are pirating proprietary information.
I also don't give a flying **** who agrees with me or disagrees. The
bottom line is it is WRONG to sell something that isn't yours to sell.

I have no idea although it sounds like he has. I don't know the legality of
it if he did. I'm referring more to manuals and software<

Now you have no idea but yesterday you were telling me I was wrong? Am
I witnessing a new dance? The Markanova?
Not 2 but 3 and I also made the lcd flash a low-res picture of Clint
afterwards<

You can find much better pictures using the WebTV search engine
Put the bong down and embrace reality. ADT boards are proprietary as

It could be, I don't know<

Thank you HIllary
I haven't given much in the past few years but that does not affect my
opinion <

Thank you Bill
Or the fact you haven't said much since being bought by RLB a few weeks ago
:) <

He overpaid if he was trying to buy me off. I will side with anyone
for a buck and a quarter.

The bottom line is it is WRONG to
sell something that isn't yours to sell.

I don't sell pirated software, pirated
manuals or anything else that isn't
mine to sell. I never have.

That said, I didn't say that Jim Rojas'
site was legal or ethical. I said it is
useful to the trade and to DIYers.

Brinks might be in the right on this
but I still hope they lose. That's not
because I like Jim Rojas (which I do)
but because Brinks is an evil stain
on my industry.

As to fighting, I'm not interested. I've
got something far more pressing to
deal with and it's not over yet.

If they were programmer for the last batch of panels you'd have a point
since they were exclusive to the BHS-3000 however everything beforehand used
a standard Arrowhead 670 programmer that used to program DTI panels which
Brinks used a varient of <

BHS2000 had it's own programmer as did the 3000. I believe the
programmer for the 4000 worked for all 3 of them.
I have a dozen or so of them. They make nice plumb bobs.

Whether you sell it or put it on your server as a free download, it's
considered "pirating". You've been caught TWICE providing DSC software
on your website (four times if you count the fact that the software was
distributed over THREE websites the last time).
