This may sound like a really stupid question, but i can't figure out how to change the color of an LED strip to white. I'm not using a controller, im just feeding power directly to the strip, which works fine for RGB but i was wondering what the best way of turning it white would be.

Some more information about the LED strip would be helpful... model number, link to a web page where it can be purchased, datasheet... stuff like that.

If the LED strip has red, green, and blue LEDs on it, then lighting up all three should give an approximation of white if you stand far enough away from it and the relative intensities of the three LEDs are in the correct proportion. This is basically how you get "white" from a color television whether using phosphors and electron beams or LEDs.

What color does it make when you power all three of the RGB inputs?

Typically, runing all three die at full current does not give a good white color and one or two colors have to be reduced a bit.

Yes, that is why I asked my question.
