I live in a deep hole way out in the sticks...

I don't think the nps would want a radio tower at the archaeology digs but who knows.
I have a marine cell booster that gets me that needed extra bar, but my weather radio barely gets a signal. What kind of 50 ohm antenna do I need?

.there are supposed to be 6 national NOAA stations, and I barely get 1.
I have a marine whip about 8 feet long and a marine radio that is supposed to get the wx marine weather stations on it. I am used to connecting coax to radio and antenna, but the antenna does not have a coax connector, it just fastens to the mount with nylon or Teflon washers. I assume the coax signal wire receives a contact ring which fastens to the whip mount. Where do I fastens the shield of the coax?

I found a diy weather radio antenna on the NOAA weather site. Pictures seem moot. End of a cut off piece of coax and a stainless steel bracket wit a hole in it.
