AmbientAI - Privacy-First Context-Aware Music Companion on i.MX RT1170

AmbientAI - Privacy-First Context-Aware Music Companion on i.MX RT1170

AmbientAI is an edge-AI music companion built around the NXP i.MX RT1170 that combines visual and environmental context to understand the user's surroundings and automatically select appropriate music while keeping sensing and decision-making local to the device.

EcoSort Edge: Waste Sorting Lid - PHYTEC phyBOARD

EcoSort Edge: Waste Sorting Lid - PHYTEC phyBOARD

EcoSort Edge is a retrofit lid that turns any 47–58 cm trash can into an AI sorter for plastic, metal, and trash. A PHYTEC phyBOARD-RT1170 (NXP i.MX RT1170) runs an int8 vision model in 14 ms and drives the lid servos. Its sloped chute design uses 41.8% less height than seesaw bins, and it's ready 5 s after power-on.

GridSense/Optiflow

GridSense/Optiflow

GridSense is an edge microgrid controller that coordinates utility service, batteries, renewable generation, generators, and controllable loads. Its OptiFlow engine applies an editable strategy while equipment profiles enforce real and reactive power limits, ramp rates, state-of-charge boundaries, communications health, and safe source transfers.

Precision Edge Clock

Precision Edge Clock

This article evaluates the creation of building a stratum 1 precision edge clock based on using the PHYTEC RT1170 dev board, which is based on the NXP RT1176 chip. This includes: a description of the additional required hardware, an expanded code listing, and a comparison of the software baseline (code included) with a hardware implementation.

Wingman

Wingman

PHYTEC phyBOARD-RT1170 (Zephyr RTOS) makes the safety call deterministically and Jetson TX2 GPU perceives hazards; failing safe within ~100ms if perception goes silent. The same split used in industrial cobots and AMRs, shown here as an ADAS prototype. Real hardware: ~50us decisions, 14/14 fault tests passed, a PHYTEC firmware bug found and fixed!
